Welcome to the MONDIS website.
MONDIS is a research project developed in partnership between the Czech Technical University in Prague , Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Department of Cybernetics and the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics AS CR , vvi.
Its main aims are to support collaboration and experience exchange and to enhance integration of existing knowledge sources in the field of cultural heritage protection.
More specifically MONDIS focuses on:
• Documentation of damages and failures of cultural heritage objects.
• Analysis of dependencies between failures and their causes.
• Damage mitigation measures and intervention plans.
• Risk factors of failure occurrence and their prevention.
MONDIS addresses the need for supporting professional investigation of damages and adequate design of possible remedies by developing a knowledge-based system for documentation and analysis of failures and damages to monuments. The scope is to overcome the limitations of earlier databases by the application of modern semantic technolologies able to integrate, organize and process useful information concerning damages.
The foreseen outputs include a web user interface and a mobile application for visual inspection purposes. Such products would be beneficial for all interested parties in cultural heritage conservation, such as administrators, owners, as well as designers and construction companies.
This work has been supported by the grant No. DF11P01OVV002 "Defects in immovable cultural heritage objects: a knowledge-based system for analysis, intervention planning and prevention" of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
